The
Kidlington Directory is a company that was set up early 2005
by a stay at home mum.
Hi
my name is Emma and I was working in an accounts office, I
fell pregnant with my first child and went on maternity leave.
I returned to work after staying at home for the first year
of my daughter’s life. In March 2005 my partner and
I came to a decision of me giving up work as I was missing
our daughter so much being in a 9 – 6 job.
We
knew we had to come up with something to make some extra cash
as there would only be one income, we came up with the idea
of a local community magazine which would offer extremely
cheap advertising to local businesses. My partner and I set
out to achieve this and thought it would be a good idea to
make the magazine more than just an advertising vehicle for
business, so we decided we would do a restaurant review every
month, a local information section and do a couple of articles
each month along with puzzles for those who like a challenge!
This
is now The Kidlington Directory which is delivered free each
month and reaches over 4000 homes in the village.
We
also have a free page dedicated to charity events within the
village so charity’s and schools can advertise there
up and coming events.
The
Kidlington Directory is now a successful magazine with advertisers
coming back on a regular basis due to the good service they
receive and the positive results they get from residents in
the village.
We
are extremely pleased with the positive results we have achieved
since publishing our first issue back in June 2005.
The
Kidlington Directory has just teamed up with The Kidlington
Recreational Trust which is a local charity based within the
Parish Council and raises money to manage and maintain the
recreational areas in Kidlington. We are going to be supporting
them in there work and also help in fundraising, giving something
back to the community.
We
have a page on our website where you can send us your comments
or suggestions on things happening in the village or anything
relating to The Kidlington Directory.
We
wish to thank all our past and present advertisers for all
there support. We would also like to thank our family and
friends in Kidlington who have helped make The Kidlington
Directory possible.
We
ultimately want to make The Kidlington Directory THE reference
source for the village.
